Company history

1952: ONA founded in Durango (Basque Country). ONA's first EDM
machine is the
WSM - 4.5 model..
1962: ONA begins its export drive. Its first markets are Europe and South America.

1967: The first family of BA machines is born, incorporating the latest transistorised generators.

1977: Presentation at the
world fair (EMO), of ONA's
first wire-cut EDM machine,
the "Ebagoki".

1981: ONA extends and enhances the activities of its Research and Development department. This leads to the presentation at EMO of the first numerical control in the world devised exclusively for die-sinking EDM machining (CNC POLISPARK).

1987: New range of gantry type die-sinking machines, with a load capacity in the electrode head of up to 3,000 kg.

1990: ONA begins to create its own world-wide network of subsidiary companies. The policy is designed to ensure:
- Better information on customers' real requirements.
- Closer collaboration with customers, allowing technological exchange at the highest level.
- Ability to provide customers with constant support and an excellent technical assistance service.

1991: Inauguration of ONA's new modern production pant in Durango. 11,000 sq. m for production, 1,500 sq. m for R&D and 2,000 sq. m for general offices, demonstration room and technical assistance. For customers, this means shorter delivery times, greater flexibility, greater guarantee of quality and even greater support.
1992: ONA patents the world's first 100% ecological filter for EDM machines. The revolutionary filter system adds no extra waste to the erosion waste and has zero maintenance costs.
1993: ONA places high-quality wire-cut EDM technology within reach of all. A new range of machines - the PRIMA - is born, with a design concept which brings together maximum performance and very low maintenance costs.
1995: New range of ONA die-sinking EDM machines: the TECHNO with EXPERT EROSION SYSTEM.

1998: ONA confirms its world leadership in the production of large-size EDM machines. The new TH 1000 model offers a precise and flexible working arrangement with heavy (up to 25,000 kg.) and large-volume parts.
1999: At the world EMO exhibition, ONA presents the largest wire-cut EDM machine in the world, the ARION K 1000. This new machine extends the range of wire-cut applications to larger and more complex jobs.
