ONA participates in the most important European research projects

BRITE-EURAM projects
As well as having its own R&D centre, ONA maintains an important policy of collaborating with other European scientific bodies and is the leader of several European BRITE-EURAM projects. This experience began in 1989 with the WETCAT project, which led to development of the ONA PRIMA wire-cut EDM machines in 1994.

ONA is currently leading two new projects -MICROMAC 1996-2000 and ECOPROD 1996-2000 - in association with important European companies and technology centres with related technologies.

ONA is also an active member of the Arbeiskreis Elektroerosive Bearbeitung, the Higher Technical College of Aachen (WZL), considered to be one of the great leaders in production technology in Germany and of European research as a whole.

EUREKA project

The Arion K1000 machine and the ONA PRIMA series are the result of the European research experiences in which ONA Electroerosión has participated with notable success. In collaboration with the Swedish division of System 3R, and as part of the EUREKA E1721 project, ONA has developed leading-edge technology which has allowed it to diversify the applications of wire-cut EDM to a great variety of tasks. The result of the work conducted was the powerful Arion K 1000, presented for the first time at EMO'99 in Paris.

Arial offers two main areas of interest: the first is the development of a new concept in wire-cut EDM to meet user requirements in terms of machine operation and cutting conditions. The second focus of attention was the robot system which automates the serial production process.
