Iñaki Barrutia is the Director of the Technology and Process department at ONA (S.T.P.)

 

The Technology and Processes Department at ONA (S.T.P.) embraces all the ONA divisions in the world. Its aim is to provide the client with technical support. Every user of an ONA machine has access to this service free of charge.

What's the function of the Technology and Processes Department?

The principal function of this department is to help the client get the maximum productivity out of his machine.

At ONA we know that where EDM is concerned, the machine is no more important than the counselling and technical service made available to the user. The S.T.P. will provide him with counselling, highly specialized and free of charge, at any time. Anywhere in the world, and immediately. It will make sure a solution is got under way.  


A modern EDM unit is very highly automated, so is it not contradictory to talk about technical counsel?

No, not in the least, since the range of applications is becoming ever broader and more demanding. It's important that ONA know exactly what applications the client has in mind so that his machine can be perfectly integrated into the environment in question. Sometimes our task is to help an experienced user who wishes to undertake work of a new type, very different from what he has so far been doing. We help him find the optimum solution quickly and reliably.

Can you tell us something about personnel in the S.T.P. department?

They're made up of our finest EDM specialists. Their experience and professional qualifications mean that we can offer an excellent technical consulting service. With state-of-the-art equipment at their disposal, they are at work in the various demonstration shops that ONA maintains throughout the world.


When there isn't a demonstration shop in his own country, what can the client do?

He can call the ONA headquarters in Durango, at +34-946-200800 or +34-946-818083. Alternatively he can send a fax to +34-946-200011. A specially trained team will be there to answer his questions. Another possibility, of course, is to write by e-mail to the S.T.P. department at the Head Office (stp@ona-electroerosion.com).

 

 

E-mail is an excellent tool for the resolution of complex problems, especially when complex queries cannot be properly dealt with by phone. When a query comes by e-mail, the applications engineers have more time to find the best solution. They can discuss the problem with specialists, look for supplementary data, and so on. Another advantage is that whatever extra documentation may be required can be attached to the e-mail. S.T.P is realizing that more and more clients use this medium to contact them.
