The ONA "K" wire EDM range

The precise, innovative solution for the most demanding jobs

At Hanover ONA showed the new K 350, the smallest unit in its revolutionary "K" series. A range of machines designed for work of the highest precision, even with large workpieces. The impressive innovations in the "K" series have made it possible for wire EDM to be applied to steadily bigger, more complex jobs.

Highly reliable threading with wire of every kind.

  • Work can be done with wire of any kind, coated or uncoated. Wire diameters range from 0.1 mm / 0.004 in to 0.35 mm / 0.014 in. (ONA patent.
  • The maximum height for threading is equal to the maximum traverse on the Z axis.
  • Maintenance is minimal due to the use of wear-resistance components and optimized design.

ONA K 500: ±30º tapered cutting along the entire X-Y traverse

The K 500 is the first wire EDM unit allowing the operator to cut up to a height of 400 mm, at an inclination of 30º, the whole way along the X-axis or Y-axis.

Even at the most remote points on these axes (700 mm x 500 mm / 27.56 x 19.70 in on the K 500) it is possible to cut at a thickness of 400 mm / 15.75 in with 30º inclination.

Optimized design with the finite-element method

The mechanical structure of the machine was designed, like all structures at ONA, with the aid of the finite-element method (FEM). Every aspect of the matter was considered under the most extreme conditions. The points submitted to the highest stress are reinforced, so that the structure is optimized. The result is maximum rigidity, which is a basic requirement for high-precision cutting.
