For the third consecutive year, ONA has been awarded the 2004 Spanish Prize for Machine Tool Design in the material removal class. The model that garnered the award was the new CNC Die Sinking EDM machine “NX-400 ”. At the same time, wire model AE-300 was awarded Honorable Mention. The NX-400 features a new CNC with a windows based operation. There are major advances in ease of operations and in a high level of automation. The new models NX-400 and die sinking DB-300, as well as wire machines from the AE series, reflect a new machine concept based on industrial ecodesign , where priority is given to simplicity and efficiency, while still focusing on significantly greater ease of operation . However, easier operation does not mean less safety for the operator. The design team was held to the same standards ONA has always had in respect to maintaining current regulations in regards to safety and electromagnetic compatibility.
